Wecome Fall

November 2, 2015

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! I have always liked creating new wreath designs and this year I decided to experiment.

I wanted to use live greenery and flowers. But they also had to be greenery and flowers that dry well and hold their color. That way I don't have to keep it in water as it dries. I also used hairspray on the leaves and flowers to help preserve color and shape as they dry. I guess in a week I will learn if these tricks actually work.

I sprayed oak leaves gold and found a tree that had a purplish pigment in its foliage. There is a Firethorn bush near my workshop with orange berries this time of year (as it gets colder the berries become more red). Picked those and some coral spray roses.

I am extremely happy with it. It is especially lovely against our blue door!
